 The sisters by Claire Douglas

One lied. One died.

When one sister dies, the other must go to desperate lengths to survive

After a tragic accident, still haunted by her twin sister’s death, Abi is making a fresh start in Bath. But when she meets siblings Bea and Ben, she is quickly drawn into their privileged and unsettling circle.

When one sister lies, she must protect her secret at all costs

As Abi tries to keep up with the demands of her fickle friends, strange things start to happen – precious letters go missing and threatening messages are left in her room. Is this the work of the beautiful and capricious Bea? Or is Abi willing to go to any lengths to get attention?

When the truth outs, will either sister survive?

I wanted to get this book for while why didn’t get it straight away
it is brilliant
it’s a brilliant psychological Thriller
A must read books

I was guessing all the way through I want to know what was going on
what was going to happen next
The atmosphere builds up very slowly at the start but the tension was there rights from the first page it got a few twist that I didn’t see coming i was so hooked on the plot it caught my attention straight away you will be on the edge of your seat reading this book
I cannot believe that it is Clarie debut novel she won The Marie Claire’s competition with this book when you start to read you will see why
what a very talented author I could not put it down

Abby lost her twin sister Lucy she see her everywhere she had a nervous breakdown and is now getting over it
It now time to move on with her life one day when she was walking around Bath

Amy’s met Bea she so like lucy
She had was a twin to he called Ben soon they all become friends or do they ?
what are they hiding and why was there something strange about them ?

As soon as Abby moves in with them weird things started to happen in the house I was so caught in the plot I was guessing what’s going to happen next and why ?
there’s plenty of past hidden secrets and agendas in the story that some of the issues are very uncomfortable to read about

The characters had very complex personalities who was telling the truth and who is manipulating Who ?
I didn’t see it did ?

a great story that packed with love; obsession ;desperation and intrigued right up to the end of the story

I cannot praise this book enough
it’s in my top 10 books of the year

**Take a trip to the Yorkshire village of Burley Bridge, where a very special little cookbook shop is about to open its doors…**

In the beginning…

Kitty Cartwright has always solved her problems in the kitchen. Her cookbooks are her life, and there isn’t an issue that ‘Cooking with Aspic’ can’t fix. Her only wish is that she had a book entitled ‘Rustling Up Dinner When Your Husband Has Left You’.

Forty years later…

On Rosemary Lane, Della Cartwright plans to open a very special little bookshop. Not knowing what to do with the hundreds of cookbooks her mother left her, she now wants to share their recipes with the world – and no amount of aspic will stand in her way.

But with her family convinced it’s a hare-brained scheme, Della starts to wonder if she’s made a terrible decision. One thing’s for sure: she’s about to find out…

Lose yourself in Della’s world of food, family and friends. The perfect read for fans of Trisha Ashley and Carole Matthews.

This is the first book by Ellen I have read I will now look out for more of her books. You will be pulled into the story from the first few pages to the last one you will want the story to carry one I did I can not wait for the next two book later this year.
I found this more about the characters than the bookshop that more the backdrop I say a great introduction to it .
Kitty love her cookbooks when she died her daughter Della wanted the books they were very special to her but her family think she mad for wanted them .
Della character was lovely very warm kind and caring lady as the story moves on she seem to grown into a very strong lady that knows to follow her mind and dream but a what cost ?
My heart when out to her at so many times I really felt for her I think you will too.
I know I did not like Mike from the start did you?
I found I was hooked on the story very easy to read it flows so effortlessly I like Ellen writing style it just hooks you
It a lovely warm book a great introduction to the other books to follow
I like to thank Avon for sending me this fabulous book to read I recommend you all take a look at it

Ellen Berry is an author and magazine journalist. Originally from rural West Yorkshire, she has three teenage children and lives with her husband and their daughter in Glasgow. When she’s not writing, she loves to cook and browse her vast collection of cookbooks, which is how the idea for this story came about. However, she remains the world’s worst baker but tends to blame her failures on ‘the oven’.

B side by Elle Field

My day on tour

Aj book review club's photo.

B side by Elle Field

“What do I honestly know about the music industry? I’m just another idiot with a dream who is naive enough to hope that I might be the next big star.”

Etta Millhouse has always had big musical ambitions to match her big voice, but she’s also got three very big problems – the addiction she won’t admit to, her godmother’s illness that she can no longer ignore, and her godmother’s useless business partner (who she wishes she could ignore).

Keeping an eye on Arielle’s poor business decisions is the last thing Etta wants to do when she’s offered the chance to record a demo with a top producer. But, a promise is a promise, even if it has her reaching for another pick-me-up… And then another. And then one more.

When the secret she must keep for her godmother, Felicity, sends her drug habit spiralling out of control, can Etta battle her demons in time and make her dream happen? Or, will her music career be over before it’s even begun?

B-Side sits between Lost (out now) and Found (out August 2016) in the Arielle Lockley series – read Etta’s version of events in this gritty spin-off.

What I say
What can I say I loved this book but I will say your best to read the other two books first as I feel you will know the backgrounds and characters more and how they relationship seem to work you feel more a eases with the characters that way. It could be read as a standalone read but ì feel it make more sense to read other first
I was so caught with the story from just the first few pages to the last one
Elle writing style just pull you into her story so effortlessly I felt this book was a bit deeper than her other books but it still a very well written book this story more about Etta she want to be a singer and now has the chance to do that . I was so pulled into her character but I feel she a character your love or hate or both sometimes which show you just good Elle writing is
She did have a addiction could she stop it did she want to she seem to be living her dream to be a  pop star with that  life style or was she ?
Felicity is ill she was Arielle business partner but Etta hates her so much you just know that going to be fun to read .Felicity is Etta grandmother that is how her  character is brought into the story
As I said this story a bit deeper than the others but I still enjoying reading it you get to know the characters you can not wait for the next part it a wonderful series you left wanting more

Thank to Elle for letting me be part of this tour
