THE BOOKSHOP ON ROSEMARY LANE BY ELLEN BERRY

THE BOOKSHOP ON ROSEMARY LANE BY ELLEN BERRY

**Take a trip to the Yorkshire village of Burley Bridge, where a very special little cookbook shop is about to open its doors…**

In the beginning…

Kitty Cartwright has always solved her problems in the kitchen. Her cookbooks are her life, and there isn’t an issue that ‘Cooking with Aspic’ can’t fix. Her only wish is that she had a book entitled ‘Rustling Up Dinner When Your Husband Has Left You’.

Forty years later…

On Rosemary Lane, Della Cartwright plans to open a very special little bookshop. Not knowing what to do with the hundreds of cookbooks her mother left her, she now wants to share their recipes with the world – and no amount of aspic will stand in her way.

But with her family convinced it’s a hare-brained scheme, Della starts to wonder if she’s made a terrible decision. One thing’s for sure: she’s about to find out…

Lose yourself in Della’s world of food, family and friends. The perfect read for fans of Trisha Ashley and Carole Matthews.

WHAT I SAY
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK
This is the first book by Ellen I have read I will now look out for more of her books. You will be pulled into the story from the first few pages to the last one you will want the story to carry one I did I can not wait for the next two book later this year.
I found this more about the characters than the bookshop that more the backdrop I say a great introduction to it .
Kitty love her cookbooks when she died her daughter Della wanted the books they were very special to her but her family think she mad for wanted them .
Della character was lovely very warm kind and caring lady as the story moves on she seem to grown into a very strong lady that knows to follow her mind and dream but a what cost ?
My heart when out to her at so many times I really felt for her I think you will too.
I know I did not like Mike from the start did you?
I found I was hooked on the story very easy to read it flows so effortlessly I like Ellen writing style it just hooks you
It a lovely warm book a great introduction to the other books to follow
I like to thank Avon for sending me this fabulous book to read I recommend you all take a look at it

ABOUT AUTHOR

Ellen Berry is an author and magazine journalist. Originally from rural West Yorkshire, she has three teenage children and lives with her husband and their daughter in Glasgow. When she’s not writing, she loves to cook and browse her vast collection of cookbooks, which is how the idea for this story came about. B side by Elle Field

My day on tour

Aj book review club's photo.

B side by Elle Field

“What do I honestly know about the music industry? I’m just another idiot with a dream who is naive enough to hope that I might be the next big star.”

Etta Millhouse has always had big musical ambitions to match her big voice, but she’s also got three very big problems – the addiction she won’t admit to, her godmother’s illness that she can no longer ignore, and her godmother’s useless business partner (who she wishes she could ignore).

Keeping an eye on Arielle’s poor business decisions is the last thing Etta wants to do when she’s offered the chance to record a demo with a top producer. But, a promise is a promise, even if it has her reaching for another pick-me-up… And then another. And then one more.

When the secret she must keep for her godmother, Felicity, sends her drug habit spiralling out of control, can Etta battle her demons in time and make her dream happen? Or, will her music career be over before it’s even begun?

B-Side sits between Lost (out now) and Found (out August 2016) in the Arielle Lockley series – read Etta’s version of events in this gritty spin-off.

What I say
What can I say I loved this book but I will say your best to read the other two books first as I feel you will know the backgrounds and characters more and how they relationship seem to work you feel more a eases with the characters that way. It could be read as a standalone read but ì feel it make more sense to read other first
I was so caught with the story from just the first few pages to the last one
Elle writing style just pull you into her story so effortlessly I felt this book was a bit deeper than her other books but it still a very well written book this story more about Etta she want to be a singer and now has the chance to do that . I was so pulled into her character but I feel she a character your love or hate or both sometimes which show you just good Elle writing is
She did have a addiction could she stop it did she want to she seem to be living her dream to be a  pop star with that  life style or was she ?
Felicity is ill she was Arielle business partner but Etta hates her so much you just know that going to be fun to read .Felicity is Etta grandmother that is how her  character is brought into the story
As I said this story a bit deeper than the others but I still enjoying reading it you get to know the characters you can not wait for the next part it a wonderful series you left wanting more

Thank to Elle for letting me be part of this tour

My grandmother sends her regards & apologise by Fredrik Backman

My grandmother sends her regards
&apologise by Fredrik Backman

What people are saying
There are clear themes here, nominally: the importance of stories; the honesty of children; and the obtuseness of most adults, putting him firmly in league with the likes of Roald Dahl and Neil Gaiman. A touching, sometimes funny, often wise portrait of grief. ( Kirkus)

The author’s lightness of touch is definitely a contributor towards the novel’s success. (It’s already a best seller in his native country.) Fredrik conveys much in a few words . . . However a special warning to the ladies summed up in three words: wear waterproof mascara! I read the last few chapters verging between heart-glowing smiles and heart-wrenching sobs. I’ll be ready for it the next few times I read it though and, indeed, the times after that. ( The Bookbag)

Told with the same comic accuracy and beating heart as [OVE] . . . It is a story about life and death and one of the most important human rights: the right to be different. ( Laura’s Little Book Blog)

A highly compelling read and it was easy to lose myself in the story ( Off the Shelf blog)

A highly compelling read and it was easy to lose myself in the story ( Off the Shelf Blog)

What I say

The hilarious, heart-breaking novel by the author of the international bestseller A MAN CALLED OVE.
What a lovely heartfelt book I was laughing as I was reading it .
Elsa and her grandmother were brilliant characters i love all there antics they will have you smiling and laughing out loud the humour very good .
The grandmother tells Elsa story but I got to say I did think grandmother was a bit batty what did you think?
I was not to keen on the fantasy world or I should say Kingdoms she made up but it was nice to read about.
I was sad when grandmother die but I enjoyed her letter to everyone it a very interesting read
Elisa was a bit different but she was a lovely girl I did like her I found her very sweet .
I like her part in delivering her grandmother letters did she have fun doing it ?
I felt it help her to blond with her neighbours and become part of the community in also gave you a great insight to her grandmothers life how she lived it and why as you read your pulled into her fantasy world
I like the mix of characters they bring lot to the story.
I felt this was very different to other books I read but I did like it
The writting style is very different and unique it a lovely warm book to read I did take me a few chapters to get into the story but I did enjoy it so much

Welcome Tamara Kotton to my blog & how to use white pencils

Welcome Tamara Kotton to my blog here a bit about herself and how to use your white pencils

Tamara is going to be a guess reviewer doing review for us
This post is about why Tamara loves to colour and her you tube video about how to use your white pencils
Coloring to me is an emotional therapy to me, why??? Well, see I have suffered for years with bipolar, SEVER PTSD, & chronic migraines on a daily basis, but as they say, you still have to live another day & make the day the best of it.
I have a lot of hobbies to keep busy, but the ones I adore the most is coloring. I have yet to find a book, I don’t love. I have close to 50 new adult coloring books, the Prisma colored pencils, Prisma art markers, a few Copics, most pf the Spectrum Noir art markers, Sharpies, Bic, Permante markers, Tombrows, Derwent colored pencils, crayola colored pencils, Araina’s vivid art colored pencils, Crazy Art colored pencils, Crayola markers, some gel pens, Just the fine tip metallic colored pencils, Stedlars colored fine tip markers, the cheap colored pencils from Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Target, I try them all, as I adore all mediums.
I want to try Faber Castells, & Lyrica’s too, & watercolors too. I see so much better colorings all over fb, pintrest, google, yahoo. And since I started coloring, I have noticed a lot of things in the shading of things, the layers, how colors are blending, its just getting it on paper I’m still learning.
Since I started coloring last summer, I have noticed a huge change in myself for the better, even my husband & therapist said I’m a lot happier & has seen a better me. I even started coloring before my therapist suggest it for me.
My sister&law & I are trying to get a local group on fb together for those t hat live in Kansas & Missouri, & for a local meet & greet too.
I have seen coloring help so many people. Its calming, soothing, de stressing, & its helping people focus on something they love, instead of whats all going on around you at once.
When, I’m out shopping or looking at coloring supplies, I always strike up a conversation with them, invite them to my fb group for those that are local, & even help find a good book for them, I have been told at a lot of the local crafts stores, they need to hire me as a guide to all the coloring books. LOL (Id do that for if I got paid in new coloring books or art supplies).
Coloring has taking me away from my problems with PTSD, & brought me more happiness then I thought I can feel again
There’s a lot of people who will tell you suffering from mental health issues isn’t easy, even with meds, until coloring came for us adults, in a HUGE way, now we have something to look forwards to other then, sadness, or mixed emotions of how you feel.
I’m by no means saying I’m a great colorist but I’m learning as I go, & I have the most fun at it too.
Thanks for giving me the wonderful opportunity to talk on your bog about coloring, & why I color, & the peace it brings me, & I hope others too as well.
~ Always~

Tamara Kotton

Aj book review club's photo.

FLAWED BY CECELIA AHERN

The stunning YA debut from internationally bestselling author Cecelia Ahern.

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.

But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found FLAWED.

In this stunning novel, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society in which perfection is paramount and mistakes are punished. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.

WHAT I SAY
I GOT TO SAY I NOT SURE IF I LIKED OR LOVE THIS BOOK I GOT MIX FEELS ABOUT IT
The book is a YA novel
I was so happy when I saw on netgalley to review as I like Cecelia other books so much .
I found this one a bit slow at the start I was struggling with it but then I was hooked I did find it a very thought-provoking book I hope this is the first in a series as I want it to follow on as the story was left very open but what a very clever end it left you wanting to read then next book .
One mistake and your marked for life .
I found it very hard to read the prison scene are very hard hitting the marking was told so well you felt for them all .The banding was so wrong I felt it very horrific to read about but so gripping to .
I felt for Celestine what a brave girl she was she had to stand up to what she believe in she was so strong her characters was very good I did like her .Did being a flawed make her a out cast ?
I felt the plot was very well written the descriptions were very good you could relate to them and feel for them all .I felt this book was the ground work
for the next book I did like this book in the end I was pulled into the plot I got to carry on reading to see what was going to happen next I did not get the rules did you ?
The family were very believable I wanted to shout at them many times as I was reading I got to say it a book you got to read for yourself as I was not sure about it but it did make me think a very good read just not one I tell you all to rush out of get but I know other loved it
Thank you netgalley for letting me read and review
