LARKSWOOD BY VALERIAN MENDES

LARKSWOOD BY VALERIAN MENDES

Larkswood House. The very name suggests bird song, peace and elegance. It is home to the Hamilton CHILDREN

In the tradition of THE FORSYTE SAGA, a sweeping historical novel that spans three generations, telling the dark secrets of a family torn apart.

WHAT I SAY
I love this book is very easy to read   it keep my attention I will say I did read in a couple of days is a very good story the writting style is very easy to follow it has  very good characters that keep you hooked
Lockwood is a building that was once a very old hospital it has been use  for years but is now the home of Edward again it been in his family for years
The cover kind of creepy I felt did you
Edward been in India but is now back at Lockwood Hall Louisa his  niece has not been very well and  she was sent there to recover Louisa has a great connection with her Grandad I felt
The book takes you back many years it got a few  mystery there is a lot of hidden secrets in this old  house and a lot of stories come light
I like that the book is told in jaw timelines goes back from 1939 to the 1890s when  Edward Was a young Man and Louise is now  this is were  you do find out the Edward had two  younger sisters but he never talks about then why?
This is a story of very cold  parents Distributor love and a bit of Scandal the story  is beautifully set  in this lovely old house that I wanted to visit I could imagine what the house was like in the old days but I could also see what the house is like now so well in my mind  .The gardens sounded lovely now and then again forbidden love sewm  to be on the cards again

The  book is packed with a lot of twists and Turns  I found then very clever make you think the writing style is very easy to read I will say I did like old  times more than now or the modern times Louise was  living in I did  found this part of the story more interesting
when you do find out what the secrets this house was holding you will  be very much  shocked what happened to edwards  two sisters  but i will say i did guess right did  you ?
I did think that the twist was very clever but  I did see coming  did you ?
i find some of the secrets very disturbing but it gave you a great insight to what life was like in them days it’s a very interesting  read packed  with a lot of history
What I said in the beginning this story just grip me from beginning till the end  i like all the characters apart from one or two I did enjoy this book so much I think you will too
A good book

When the truth outs, will either sister survive?

WHAT I SAY
WOW
I wanted to get this book for while why didn’t get it straight away
it is brilliant
it’s a brilliant psychological Thriller
A must read books

I was guessing all the way through I want to know what was going on
what was going to happen next
The atmosphere builds up very slowly at the start but the tension was there rights from the first page it got a few twist that I didn’t see coming i was so hooked on the plot it caught my attention straight away you will be on the edge of your seat reading this book
I cannot believe that it is Clarie debut novel she won The Marie Claire’s competition with this book when you start to read you will see why
what a very talented author I could not put it down

Abby lost her twin sister Lucy she see her everywhere she had a nervous breakdown and is now getting over it
It now time to move on with her life one day when she was walking around Bath

Amy’s met Bea she so like lucy
She had was a twin to he called Ben soon they all become friends or do they ?
what are they hiding and why was there something strange about them ?

As soon as Abby moves in with them weird things started to happen in the house I was so caught in the plot I was guessing what’s going to happen next and why ?
there’s plenty of past hidden secrets and agendas in the story that some of the issues are very uncomfortable to read about

The characters had very complex personalities who was telling the truth and who is manipulating Who ?
I didn’t see it did ?

a great story that packed with love; obsession ;desperation and intrigued right up to the end of the story

I cannot praise this book enough
it’s in my top 10 books of the year
it a real a page turner
Claire writing style pull you it to the story your be so caught up with what going on you loss tack of time

THE BOOKSHOP ON ROSEMARY LANE BY ELLEN BERRY

THE BOOKSHOP ON ROSEMARY LANE BY ELLEN BERRY

**Take a trip to the Yorkshire village of Burley Bridge, where a very special little cookbook shop is about to open its doors…**

In the beginning…

Kitty Cartwright has always solved her problems in the kitchen. Her cookbooks are her life, and there isn’t an issue that ‘Cooking with Aspic’ can’t fix. Her only wish is that she had a book entitled ‘Rustling Up Dinner When Your Husband Has Left You’.

Forty years later…

On Rosemary Lane, Della Cartwright plans to open a very special little bookshop. Not knowing what to do with the hundreds of cookbooks her mother left her, she now wants to share their recipes with the world – and no amount of aspic will stand in her way.

But with her family convinced it’s a hare-brained scheme, Della starts to wonder if she’s made a terrible decision. One thing’s for sure: she’s about to find out…

Lose yourself in Della’s world of food, family and friends. The perfect read for fans of Trisha Ashley and Carole Matthews.

WHAT I SAY
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK
This is the first book by Ellen I have read I will now look out for more of her books. You will be pulled into the story from the first few pages to the last one you will want the story to carry one I did I can not wait for the next two book later this year.
I found this more about the characters than the bookshop that more the backdrop I say a great introduction to it .
Kitty love her cookbooks when she died her daughter Della wanted the books they were very special to her but her family think she mad for wanted them .
Della character was lovely very warm kind and caring lady as the story moves on she seem to grown into a very strong lady that knows to follow her mind and dream but a what cost ?
My heart when out to her at so many times I really felt for her I think you will too.
I know I did not like Mike from the start did you?
I found I was hooked on the story very easy to read it flows so effortlessly I like Ellen writing style it just hooks you
It a lovely warm book a great introduction to the other books to follow
I like to thank Avon for sending me this fabulous book to read I recommend you all take a look at it

ABOUT AUTHOR

Ellen Berry is an author and magazine journalist. Originally from rural West Yorkshire, she has three teenage children and lives with her husband and their daughter in Glasgow. When she’s not writing, she loves to cook and browse her vast collection of cookbooks, which is how the idea for this story came about. However, she remains the world’s worst baker but tends to blame her failures on ‘the oven’.
