House of stone by rene d schutlz my review for this fab book

House of stone by Rene d Schultz

HOUSE OF STONE is a ‘standalone’ sequel to BISHOP STREET— That takes the past and present, and it is interwoven into another powerful story.

“The test of life is not meant to break you, but to make you stronger…” Four powerful childhood friendships become twisted with lies and deceit after they leave Bishop Street Orphanage. Twenty years later, the four orphans are back together. Maggie is a best-selling author that lives in Los Angeles. Elizabeth, is a farmer’s wife with five children, and they live in North Bend, North Dakota. Randolph the billionaire, is a wandering nomad who has never put down roots. Lucy is finally clean and sober, and raising her daughter, after twenty years of living on the streets.

Challenging themselves to let go of the past, and still fused together by the immeasurable power of friendship, they will never let anything get in their way again. Not the tests of courage and willingness to change; or the devastating flood that hits North Bend, threatening to destroy the town; and not the love and happiness they find, unexpectedly. Suddenly, their lives will all change forever, when Maggie is visiting an orphanage in Honduras and the big earthquake hits. Will they find her in time, or will their worst fears turn into reality?

“Author Rene D. Schultz has done it once again! She has created a story so rich with love, loss, friendship and hope that it feels like I am a part of the story.” ~Stephenee Carsten

“You can read it as a standalone book, or I would tell you to read Bishop Street where the story begins.”
~AJ Book review club

Rene Schultz is a master storyteller. With a compassionate touch, Ms. Schultz also weaves in social issues and their aftermath, including homelessness, addiction, and abandoned children. ~Jada Ryker

This author brings out emotions in me that aren’t easily displayed. There were times when I was biting my nails; times when I was crying buckets; and times when I was scared. Each character has now got a place in my heart, as this lovely unique author, Rene D. Schultz. ~Sue Ward-2-Friends / UK reviewer

What can I say about – House of Stone? Another gem of a book! I loved it! It will pull at your heart strings, and you will need a tissue. You can read it as a standalone book, or I would tell you to read Bishop Street where the story begins. Bishop Street will let you understand the love, the bond, and the strong connection they all shared, as soon as you read the first page. I was hooked, and I got pulled into the story. I could feel all the pain, the heartache, the love, the humour, and the strong bond they felt for each other.
House of Stone has a flood and earthquakes, and it will threaten their further. This story test them and shows their strengths and how they cope; together. It’s so well written, and it really is a book you cannot put it down, as with all of Rene’s books. Rene’s passion for writing shines down on her characters and makes them jump out of the page at you! You become one of them! Her style just flows along, and you just flow with it, wanting to hear more and more. From the first page to the last you will not be able to put it down. I really recommend you enjoy another one of her gems! Thank you Rene for letting me read this wonderful book. Bishop Street is a heart-wrenching, tear jerking story of survival, friendship, and second chances. You may need a tissue
This story so sad but it turns into a beautiful story it did bring tear to my eyes. i was hooked on the story from the first few pages it so fab you all got to read it .
Margaret Gray for the past twenty years has hidden behind a facade of normalcy. She wasn’t always rich and famous. At the age of seven her mother abandons her on the steps of the Bishop Street Orphanage. Here, under the cruel tutelage of Sister Theresa, Maggie develops a powerful bond with her roommates, Elizabeth, Lucy, and Randolph. Their close friendship fortifies them against the years of abuse they help each other this is so good how they all help each other
Now, Maggie is thirty-nine and her nightmares are back and she is unable to keep all that she has built from crumbling around her. It’s been twenty years since she’s heard from her friends she got to find them Why didn’t they answer her letters? Why didn’t they contact her? Had they survived ? Or had Sister Theresa deceived them with lies, aiming to destroy their friendship, forever? Why would she do that ?
Sister Theresa is dead and with nothing left to fear or has she Maggie hires Damon Depre, a private investigator to find her friends, and seek the truth. This starts her down a twisted path that will once again, test her strength of character. Will Maggie find more than just her friends she got to be stronger now
I was hooked from the first few pages it was interesting to see now history repeats itself
To me the message of the book hope the book full of emotion each of the 4 characters have experienced loss of a warm family life they felt abandonment they share poverty , isolution , guilt and shame

the fortune hunter by daisy goodwin check out my review

In 1875, Sisi, the Empress of Austria is the woman that every man desires and every woman envies.
Beautiful, athletic and intelligent, Sisi has everything – except happiness. Bored with the stultifying etiquette of the Hapsburg Court and her dutiful but unexciting husband, Franz Joseph, Sisi comes to England to hunt. She comes looking for excitement and she finds it in the dashing form of Captain Bay Middleton, the only man in Europe who can outride her. Ten years younger than her and engaged to the rich and devoted Charlotte, Bay has everything to lose by falling for a woman who can never be his. But Bay and the Empress are as reckless as each other, and their mutual attraction is a force that cannot be denied.
I loved this book this is the first romantic historical novel i have read . The novel is based on a true story of bay Middleton a horse man .
Charlotte a photographer
Sisi who real name was Elizabeth she was the Austria empress she here for the hunting season
Bay was a very good horse man his dream was to win the grand national . To me he seem very keen on the ladies but he loved his horse .He was asked to pilot or guide sisi he took on the job but he was not happy about doing it he seem to fall in love with her very easy but his love for Charlotte was very strong
Sisi was a fab horse lady she was very good at it she could ride as good as any man . I think she was a bit fed with her husband she seem to not like to be in the public eye her beauty treatments at night were very wried to me . Sisi and bay just seem to hit it off they had a very passionate affair very full one . Sisi is renowned for her beauty her long hair but at what cost to her
Charlotte a heiress she a lovely lady she very genuine lady she loves her photo she very passionate about them she got lovely jewellery to wear but she seem not to wear it very often this was very unusual for a lady of this time not to wear her jewellery her passion was more her photo
The story seem to happen very fast but my dad told me the real story of bay, sisi and charlotte happen in 5 year but in the book it was a year
I loved all the character they were all very interesting i was hooked into the story i wanted charlotte to step up to Bay to marry him i did like him and sisi together i loved to hear about the hunts they when on
The book made me want to research more about it all i loved the whole story it got lots of events , social customs of the period i got to say to me sisi was the princess diana of her day she was all way in the public eye they were following her all the time . The photo charlotte took was a very famous one my dad thinks it was the only one took of her in England he may be wrong i got to check that out
The author has done a lot of research on this fab story
To me the book about one man love for two very different women but both of the cost him a lot of pain i want to learn more about what happen to them all i would highly recommended you all read this book 5 stars read enjoy keep to read

book club news Rene D Schultz has join us today check it out

Have we all read bishop street now ? I post my review tomor we will talk about it on mon
Rene new book house of stone is out very soon i would like to thank rene for answering my question
1. Of all your books, which book is your favorite and who is your favorite character?

I love all my books and the characters have become part of me forever. As an author you live; you breathe; you feel; and write about your characters for months on end. The development of those characters become a large part of your life during that period. Each one is so different and each one fills you with different emotions. As a writer, I give them life and their own identity. If I had to pinpoint one character, I would say, Maggie, in Bishop Street. Actually, the characters in, Bishop Street, became so real to the readers, I was asked constantly to write a sequel–and I did. House of Stone, will be out the end of August. It was wonderful to be sitting with Maggie, Elizabeth, Lucy, Randolph, and Damon again, as I took them on another journey.
to you want>

2. Does the main character have anything in common with you or someone you know?

When you write fiction of any kind—as a storyteller, you have to deeply develop your characters and give them a strong voice. This allows you to feel the emotions from within your life’s experiences by using your imagination. When I’m writing, I feel each characters voice somewhere between my imagination and reality. And, somewhere during that journey, an author develops a deep connection between themselves and their stories. Of course. I think in ‘Bishop Street’ I write on the acknowledgement page that each character has a small personality trait of mine.

3. What genre do you like to stick to when you write and what genre do you normally read?

My passion of writing and reading is focused on mainstream/contemporary fiction. I thrive on developing strong story lines that showcase today’s contemporary lifestyles. Rags to riches, Robin Hood’s, and surviving the odds, seems to be my one common denominator that showcases my fascinating and diverse characters.

4. Give us a short blurb about your most recent release.

HOUSE OF STONE: Coming out in two weeks-Sequel to Bishop Street: The four orphans from Bishop Street: Maggie, Lucy, Elizabeth, and Randolph are back together as they challenge themselves to let go of their past. New obstacles become more complicated and unpredictable then they could ever imagine. Unexpected love, a devastating flood, and a major earthquake threaten their futures, as lives are lost and their worst fears test their strength of survival, once again.

5. A little bit about the Author Rene D. Schultz:

My name is Rene D. Schultz and I’m an Indie author who has four books out, a sequel coming out in a few weeks, and another two on the way. I consider myself a ‘reality fiction’ author. It’s so confusing to many readers about the genres, myself included, so that is why I made up my own genre. My books don’t quite fit into contemporary or mainstream, although that is where they get pigeonholed! I write about characters who have real obstacles and ultimately find a way to overcome them.
My main characters could be you, me, and I know everyone can relate to them. My book are emotionally driven with humor, heartache, values, mystery and a smidgen of romance.

I was in the medical field for twenty-five years and six years ago, during the recession, I found myself unemployed, older, struggling and without a future. I wasn’t alone, many baby boomers found themselves in the same black abyss as myself. I decided to reinvent myself. As a hobby I wrote novels and screenplays, never thinking about being published. Until one day a smaller publisher asked me to sign. I did, and my first book was a major success. Unfortunately the publisher took the money and ran, then reopened under a different name. My son decided it was time I did it on my own, especially with the changing publishing world. So, here I am trying my best to get my books out into the hands of readers who will find them very captivating… I was very fortunate to find two UK reviewer (Facebook page: 2-FRIENDS Sue Ward and Philomena Callen) who loved the books and have been wonderful mentors. And my books are going strong in the UK.

my blog review for the mill river redemption by darcie chan 5 stars a gem of a book

I was asked to review ‘The Mill River Redemption’. By clara from the little brown book company i jump at it as I had not read or never heard of Darcie Chan until then but the book sounded interesting to me i was not wrong it was fab and i loved the cover . I had not read any Darcie chan books before but now they will be on my list to read the book just fab
Josie DiSanti had no idea about what was about to happen and she certainly didn’t expect to lose her husband the way she did With no way to support herself and her two young children, Josie has little choice but to go and live in the small town of Mill River with her Aunt Ivy. Rose and Emily, Josie’s daughters, are totally inseparable and look out for each other whilst they are growing up. But then something tragic and unforgiveable happens which tears the two sisters apart and they go their own separate ways.
Many years later, Rose and Emily are contacted with news that their mother has died and they find themselves back in Mill River for the reading of her will. Josie tried her best to get her daughters talking again but was unsuccessful in her attempts. Still determined she has left them a task in which she hopes they will work together and reconcile their differences. In order to comply with her wishes Rose and Emily must move to Mill River and live in neighbouring houses. The two sisters reluctantly get on with the task at hand. But will they succeed in completing it and will it bring them together?
I really liked the cover. It pull me in the book if you get what i mean i loved the book i really could not put it down i wanted to find out what was going on . it a fab book so well written you just get pull into the story you will shout in your head at the sisters you will laugh , cry with them . The book is set in 2013, this novel goes back and forth from 1983 onwards so that we gets to learn the whole story . The chapters which are based in the past are very easy to follow you just want to read more to find of what happen to the family
Out of the two sisters, Emily was my favourite i loved her she was so warm i love what she did for a job i could see in my mind her car she just loved that old thing i think she just want to help her sister she can tell she got a drink problem what it seem something was wrong between the two we do not find out to near the end of book what happen between then it was so good
I found it hard to warm to Rose even though she had issues and needed help desperately i did not like now she was with her son she was not a very nice person but drink can do that to you i think she was just trying to cope with what happen in her past by hitting the bottle it got to be so hard . Her husband and son tried to help and support her she could be a cow to them . They seem to be very rich she seem to be the perfect wife .
Father o’brien i loved him . He was a recovering spoon addict he use to steal spoons from any were to me he was a very caring man alway there to help and support his parish . I absolutely loved Aunt Ivy she just took Josie and the girl in all them years ago her support was just fab she only seen the once before she was a wonderful lady she help the family so much now and in the past i loved reading about her bookstore. I want to be in that bookshop reading the books it sounded great i could see the shop in my mind i just wanted to pick up a book to read she just a fab character to have in the book the book shop to me was a labor of love i think .
Chaudia was to me was just a very lovely lady but her feelings of insecurity were not helping her . Her love for kyle was so strong she just could not think of him having any friend he had know emily a long time why should they not be friends ? All the characters were wonderful
The whole book was just fab a real page turner for me i loved the twist and turns i could see the girl doing the treasure hunt it was just a fab idea it was great to see the girls working together even though they did not want to Alex was a great help his mum doing the list ect . He was a lovely boy he loved to read lots of book he seem a very bright young boy .
To me the twist towards the end of the story. It was a bit of a shocker and very drastic i did not see that at all i not sure how i would feel i love the story to carry on more which i am sure it will we need another book .
To me the story is about family, love, forgiveness and facing up to your problems which can be very hard to do at times . To me the book write from the heart. It just so good i love you all to read .
i when out to the libary to get the first book the mill river recluse i want to read more you can read this book as a standalone book which i did

elysian fields by suzanne johnson my blog review

New Orleans is under attack from a copycat who is mimicking the crimes of a serial killer who terrorized the streets almost a century earlier.
Drusilla Jaco could happily live without the advances of the 200-year-old undead pirate Jean Lafitte, but through him DJ learns the terrible truth: this is no copycat – someone has resurrected the original Axeman of New Orleans. And to make matters worse, the attacks aren’t random at all. He’s after her.
So there’s an undead serial killer on her back. A loup-garou who’s going loco. The Elders are insisting on magic lessons from the world’s most annoying wizard. And former partner – and sometime Neanderthal – Alex Warin has just turned up on DJ’s to-do list.
DJ is about to discover that life in Louisiana has more twists and turns than the mighty Mississippi.
I did enjoy this book if you like true blood you will love this book .I had not read the other two book but this can be read as a standalone book .
DJ seem a very lovely girl but trouble seems to follow her a lot . She is now dating jake but one day her attacked her which was not very good as he was a loupe – garou . This is not good for Dj as now she got to wait to see what going happen to her
Dj a very special wizard
Alex is a shape shifter
Now Alex and Dj have started to date
The axeman seem to want Dj dead and now for some reason the elves have took a dislike to Dj
The book got wolfs ,elves and wizards it full of twists and turns
The elves and elders are very complex to me
The book very fast paced it a great paranormal read it got mystery and lots of action
Dj needs to keep her mind on top of every thing she does jake needs to get control back you just get pull into the book i want to tell you more of the story but i want you all to read

4 stars read enjoy pass on i like to thank bookbridgr for sending me this book to review

The blub
Riley Witt is running out of time.
Battling Alzheimer’s disease, Riley’s grandmother Mary suffers from memory loss, mood swings, and a tendency to wander off.
As senior year approaches, Riley has to face the reality that the one person she depends on most is slowly fading. Making matters
worse, when Mary does remember the past, she tells tales of time travel and visions. As Mary’s version of the past gets more confused, Riley knows they are running out of time together.
But when Riley discovers a guitar belonging to a famous rock star at Mary’s house, the truth behind the crazy tales finally comes out.
SIX STRINGS tells the story of Riley’s journey back to 1973 where she enters a world of music, long-lost family, and first love. Her adventure is all about discovering her past, understanding her present, and figuring out how to step into her future.
