TODAY SUPERHERO IS CAPTAIN AMERICA
A FEW FACTS

The first shield wasn’t a circle. If you saw the first movie “Captain America: The First Avenger” released in 2011, you would have seen the original shield which was more triangular shaped. The circular shield made its appearance in issue #2 after a rival publisher claimed it was a rip-off of their The Shield character.

Captain America wasn’t always named Captain America. For a while he was known as the Nomad in the 1970s. This was shortly after Watergate and Captain America wasn’t proud of his country at that point. During the 1990s, Captain America went by the name The Captain after he had once again lost faith in his country.

Despite the claim of Captain America as the First Avenger he was actually not an original member of the Avengers. Ant-Man, the Wasp, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk were the original Avengers. Captain America replaced the Hulk after he was removed for being too unstable. He was invited into the group in Avengers #4 after the group found him in ice. He becomes the First Avenger in the new Avengers plot to integrate the various Marvel movies.
