A young woman wakes up in a cold, dark cellar, with no idea how she got there or who her kidnapper is. So begins her terrible nightmare.

Nearby, the body of another young woman is discovered buried on a remote beach. But the dead girl was never reported missing – her estranged family having received regular texts from her over the years. Someone has been keeping her alive from beyond the grave.

For Detective Inspector Helen Grace it’s chilling evidence that she’s searching for a monster who is not just twisted but also clever and resourceful – a predator who’s killed before.

And as Helen struggles to understand the killer’s motivation, she begins to realize that she’s in a desperate race against time

What a excellent book i read in a day i was hooked i sat down with my cup of tea to read for a bit and carry on till i done

I had not read any of her other books so i was not sure if i be able to follow but i could so yes it can be read as s standalone book

The chapters are very short it a very easy to read book the story line very strong a body found on the beach by a family soon it became clear a serial killer was on the lose

Ruby is missing she looks very much like the dead girl on the beach

We get to hear Ruby side to her story it told from her point of view

The book got lots of tension it plays on your mind at lot it very gripping it a very believable read i liked all the characters you just get pulled into their life’s

Di Helen Grace what a great detective she seem so powerful the story told from her point of view to which like how she told her side

The killer also tell his side of the story the seem to fit into plot so well together but just told so differently to each other points of views so we get three different sides to the plot

I liked that Helen character seem to grow as the book when on

we get to hear about Helen personal issues but this does not overtake the main plot i like hearing about her problems it made her more real

i enjoy hearing some of the background to the plots It helps with the story

The ending will keep you on your toes i like the killer point of view on things it made him real to me i did like him but he was so wried was he nuts?

I like the way the story was linked the writing style so easy to follow it a gripping read it just hooks you

A cracking read

4 dolls (4 stars)
