PRETTY IS BY MAGGIE MICHELLE

Lois and Carly-May are just twelve years old when they’re abducted, driven across the country, and imprisoned in a remote, isolated hunting lodge for two months. That summer, under the watchful gaze of their kidnapper, they form a bond which will never be broken . . .

Decades later, both Lois and Carly-May have built new lives and identities for themselves. Lois, a professor of literature, is shaken when an obsessive student reminds her of the man who kidnapped her, a man she saw shoot himself on the porch twenty years before.

Out in LA, Carly-May is drinking too much and watching her beauty-queen looks fade, clinging to the last remnants of a once-promising career as an actress. When she reads a shockingly familiar screenplay, she warily she takes a role she knows is based on events from her own life.

Increasingly haunted by the devastating experience that shaped both their lives, Lois and Carly-May are drawn together again in a world that both echoes and falsifies their beautiful, terrible story.

An enthralling portrait of two haunted young women, this remarkable debut novel explores the very nature of survival.

WHAT I SAY
This book is a thriller it a very interesting read but it took me a while to get into the plot I am not still not sure if I like or not but please read for you self as you may enjoy it
I just found it very slow in parts but then other parts grip me so I guess that makes it a good read

I also got to say I found it a very thought provoking at times it make you think what would you do ?
Lois and Carly were both abducted by the man there call Zed they were keep in a log cabin for two months
The story told as flashbacks it swap around a lot I got a bit lots at times but then the story just seemed to fall into place I got the flashbacks more then

The story packed with mystery I just was not sure how it was told it was full of twists and turns i got a bit lost at times it jump back to much for me but the plot very good it a very interesting read as I said It was just not for me but you may love it so please read for yourself

COVER REVEAL:

MISTLETOE & MAYHEM by Catherine Ferguson

I can not wait to read

The new novel from ebook bestseller, Catherine Ferguson. A warm and cosy festive tale you won’t be able to put down.

Lola Plumpton can’t believe her luck.

Christmas is coming and her gorgeous boyfriend, Nathan, has offered up his swanky apartment to host the Plumpton family’s festive celebrations. It looks set to be a Christmas to remember. And it is – but for all the wrong reasons.

As the 25th December draws closer, Lola unexpectedly finds herself missing some key components:

1. A job (but who needs one of those anyway, when you’ve got the ultimate family Christmas to prepare for?)
2. Money (no job equals no money, it turns out.)
3. A boyfriend (yup, Nathan the hunk has said adios to Lola – and in the *most* embarrassing way possible…)
4. Somewhere to host her fabulous family Christmas (because of course, no Nathan means no des res apartment.)

Lola’s at a loss about what to do. But one way or another, she’s going to make this the best Christmas her family’s ever had…

I can not wait to read look fab I love all Christmas book do you too ?

Saving Grace by JANE Green

Saving Grace by JANE Green

I like Jane ‘s books do you ?
I have read most of them now but I got to say I did find this one a bit hard to understand at the start but then it just seem to fall into place so please do not let the start put you off

Grace and Ted have been married for 25 years but now something not right things are going wrong
Ted new assistant seem to be the new lady in his life he seems to be saying Grace is mentally I’ll was she ?
She want to get her life back this book about grace’s battle to do that
Beth Ted new lady is pushing her out she thinks was she ?
Grace was a very interesting character I liked her my heart when out to her at the start she have the perfect life and a lovely home and husband

One day Ted who a writer advertises for a new assistant he take Beth on she suddenly seem to making a move on Ted
I would I liked the story to be told by all the characters point of view not just Grace

I did not like Ted at time what did you think of him ? This book about Grace world falling apart and how she struggling to cope and getting life back you do get pulled into the story
I like the flashbacks but sometimes I got lost by them but then other times they help me to understand the story more

This book covers some very deep issue mental illness; menopause and being so unhappy some parts of the plot were sinister not like Jane other books I not sure why this had recipe in I miss something I think
All the characters were good you will love or hate them I like jane writing style it got lots of suspense
WHY was Beth stealing Grace life you could to read to see why ?
The story told very well but it took me to long to get into the plot but I did need to found what was going on it got lots of twists and turns
It a ok read just not for me this one but you may like so please read for yourself I will still read her books I just was not sure of this one but it so well written and deals with some very tough issues so carefully

Love Like This by Maria Duffy

Love Like This by Maria Duffy

As a huge fan of Maria Duffy, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I really didn’t know how see could write a better book than her previous four, but this book is an absolute masterpiece and it is hands down her best book so far.

Donna was born in Dublin in August 1985. She didn’t have a great start in life. Her father was in prison and her mother was an alcoholic. As her mother’s drinking problem became worst down through the years, Donna was raised by her older sister, Tina. On the same day, in the same hospital, William was born to very well off parents. Their lives and upbringings couldn’t be more different, and the two nearly meet many times. But fate has another idea for the two, and they never get to meet, until two tragic events in each of their lives sends them on their travels and they finally meet up. But just when you think they’re going to have a happy ending, fate rears it’s ugly head and they lose each other all over again.

This book is beautifully written and filled with so much emotion. I laughed and I cried with the characters in equal measure. A book has never moved me as much as this one did. These characters were more like people to me and I just got lost in their stories. In equal measures I wanted to know what happens to these characters at the end of the book, and I didn’t want it to end. The characters were well rounded and I loved how we got to watch them grow up throughout the book. There are more twists and turns than a rollercoaster and you are kept guessing the whole way through the book. I never knew what was coming next and the more I read, the more eager I was to find out what happens to the characters at the end of the book. This is a story that will stay with me for a long time, and I can honestly say that I am going to miss reading about these characters. It deserves no more than 5 stars, although in my opinion 5 stars is not enough for this brilliant, heartwarming book.

Aj book review club's photo.

From the award-winning author of PIECES OF YOU comes this enthralling love story, guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and dream upon a star…

What if your first love was your only love?

When Molly is diagnosed with a life changing illness, it feels like her whole world has come crashing down. She hopes the news will make her marriage to Sam stronger. But why does Molly always call best friend Ed in a crisis?

Ed. The very same Ed that Molly fell in love with at a party when they were teenagers, underneath a star-filled sky. Then life took them in very different directions. They could only ever be friends.

Suddenly Molly starts to question every decision she’s ever made. What if they could turn back the clock? Back to the very beginning. When the only certainty they shared was each other …
Ella Harper

As a shy teenager, Ella Harper found a way to escape by learning foreign languages, and imagined she might eventually get a glamorous job speaking French. After completing a BA in French and Russian Studies, she found herself following in her father’s footsteps into banking instead, seduced by the excitement and glamour of that world. But after climbing her way to Assistant Vice President, Ella started idly
mapping out the beginnings of a novel on an old laptop. When she realised her characters were more real to her than dividends and corporate actions ever could be, she left her job to become a writer. Eight years later, and Ella has published four hugely popular novels under the name Sasha Wagstaff.

The ebook will be released on Thursday 15th October, with the paperback following on 19th November.

OCT BOOK CLUB BOOK THE TEA PLANTERS WIFE

OCTOBER AJBOOKCUB BOOK IS
THE TEA PLANTER’S WIFE

Dinah Jefferies’ unforgettable new novel, The Tea Planter’s Wife is a haunting, tender portrait of a woman forced to choose between her duty as a wife and her instinct as a mother…

Nineteen-year-old Gwendolyn Hooper steps off a steamer in Ceylon full of optimism, eager to join her new husband. But the man who greets her at the tea plantation is not the same one she fell in love with in London.

Distant and brooding, Laurence spends long days wrapped up in his work, leaving his young bride to explore the plantation alone. It’s a place filled with clues to the past – locked doors, a yellowed wedding dress in a dusty trunk, an overgrown grave hidden in the grounds, far too small for an adult…

Gwen soon falls pregnant and her husband is overjoyed, but she has little time to celebrate. In the delivery room the new mother is faced with a terrible choice, one she knows no one in her upper class set will understand – least of all Laurence. Forced to bury a secret at the heart of her marriage, Gwen is more isolated than ever. When the time comes, how will her husband ever understand what she has done?

The Tea Planter’s Wife is a story of guilt, betrayal and untold secrets vividly and entrancingly set in colonial era Ceylon.
