TANYA’S MONDAY REVIEW

HOW TO STUFF UP CHRISTMAS BY ROSIE BLAKE

‘Tis the season to be jolly. Unless you’ve found an intimate picture of another woman on your fiance’s phone…

Eve is heartbroken after discovering her fiance is cheating on her. Being surrounded by the joys of Christmas is more than Eve can bear, so she chooses to avoid the festivities by spending Christmas alone on a houseboat in Pangbourne. Eve gets gets an unexpected seasonal surprise when handsome local vet Greg comes to her rescue one day, and continues to visit Eve’s boat on a mission to transform her from Kitchen Disaster Zone to Culinary Queen.

But where does Greg keep disappearing to? What does Eve’s best friend Daisy know that she isn’t telling? And why is there an angry goose stalking Eve’s boat?

WHAT TANYA SAYS

Thank you Corvus for sending me a copy of this book.

The book is about Eve who has recently separated from her fiancé, after finding an inappropriate photo on his phone and is now struggling to cope with the consequences of the separation. Things are not helped by the fact that it is the run up to Christmas and last Christmas he had proposed and everything had seemed rosy. Her friend Dawn is a big support as is her big sister Harriet and her mother means well as does her father who want her to be at the house for Christmas. Circumstances find her spending the run up to Christmas on a house boat in Pangbourne where she meets the gorgeous vet Greg. However Greg has something stopping him from being open and honest with Eve.

The story is interesting and you are purposefully led up the wrong path in your thinking of whom Liam, Eve’s ex fiancé, is involved with. You are also not told about Greg’s secret until you have already made a decision on if you like him as a character or not. This is a clever ploy by Rosie, the author, which I thought was good.

The majority of the characters are fun and I liked the sound of the people she met on her course and how they help her to gain in confidence and help her to look forward without pushing. The book is set over the Christmas period and there are parts that are great and Christmassy like the German market but it is not too Christmassy that you could not read it other times in the year.

The recipes in the book, well most of them, were mouth watering and I took great pleasure in showing my husband some of them and dropping big hints. I am hoping we can make some this weekend.

I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.

Thank you Tanya a lovely review i want to read now

  2. I like the look of this, though I’m not sure I’d want too much of the story taken up with recipes!
